Gov. Scott’s double standard on health, wind insurance

On the first day of hurricane season, Gov. Scott suggested a national pool for windstorm insurance. The governor has proposed that a “public option” be made available for high-risk homeowners to purchase windstorm insurance if they cannot purchase private coverage.

Someone should ask the governor why he believes it is so important to have a national public option for windstorm and flood insurance while he vilifies and runs against a national public option for health insurance. Why does Gov. Scott consider windstorm insurance a necessary right for Americans worthy of optional, government-managed insurance, yet he considers government-managed health insurance for the 50 million uninsured and 100 million under-insured American citizens and businesses to be a socialistic privilege?
