“The Medical Bill Mystery,” by Elisabeth Rosenthal (news analysis, Sunday Review, May 3), is simply another piece of evidence why we need a single-payer (Medicare for all) system.
The waste involved in employing workers to input and follow all the billing and coding minutiae is incalculable, to say nothing of the errors and angst that Dr. Rosenthal described so well.
How long can we afford such nonsense?
